Smetry properties of the strong interaction lead to various relations among the electromagnetic and weak structure functions. They are conveniently obtained by use of the quark parton model or the light-cone algebra. The validity of the sesymmetry relations, however, is independent of the validity of dynamical results such as the Bjorken scaling: many of them can indeed be obtained from the conventional assumptions of strong interactions (such as the absence of exotic exchanges, duality, etc.), as has been shown in the case of old currents without charm pieces.
